About

Short Bio

I am a Beatriu de Pinós Postdoctoral Fellow at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (Earth Sciences Department, Spain) since February 2026. My research focuses on understanding the link between atmospheric dynamics and extreme meteorological events — heatwaves, compound droughts, and extreme precipitation — with particular emphasis on the European Alps and the Mediterranean region. I develop synoptic classification and attribution methods to quantify the role of climate change in shaping these extremes.

I hold a PhD in Geography (Extraordinary Doctorate Prize) from the University of Barcelona, and have held postdoctoral positions at EURAC Research (Italy), Andorra Research+Innovation (Andorra), and the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). As Principal Investigator, I have secured competitive funding for the Flash4CastImp project (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, Horizon Europe; 2027–2029), the HIPEAtMount project (Province of Bolzano; 2024–2026), and the ATOC project (Barcelona City Council; 2023–2024).

I am the author of synoptReg, an R package for synoptic climate classification widely used in climatological research. I also participated in the review process of the Sixth IPCC Assessment Report.

Research Interests

  • Synoptic climatology and atmospheric circulation
  • Extreme weather events: heatwaves, compound droughts, extreme precipitation
  • Climate change attribution in mountain regions (Alps, Pyrenees)
  • R programming and open-source tools for climate science
